As the Bulgarian local counsel, DGKV advised Digital Realty on its entry into the Bulgarian market through the acquisition of Telepoint. DGKV acted alongside Addleshaw Goddard Poland, which was the leading law firm of Digital Realty on the deal.
The acquisition establishes Digital Realty’s presence in Sofia, one of Southeast Europe’s most important emerging interconnection hubs. The transaction relates to two data centers in Sofia, including one of the most highly interconnected facilities in Southeast Europe with more than 110 unique network service providers and multiple cloud on-ramp deployments.
Sofia is a major aggregation point for regional and international connectivity, hosting more than 340 network points of presence and close to 200 unique networks. The city plays a central role in the Eastern Mediterranean connectivity corridor and complements Digital Realty’s presence in Athens, Heraklion and Zagreb. Increasing volumes of traffic from the Middle East and Asia are routed terrestrially into Sofia, reinforcing its role as one of Europe’s strategic gateways to the Middle East.
As noted in Digital Realty’s announcement, the acquisition strengthens PlatformDIGITAL®, the company’s global data center platform, bringing a dense, neutral interconnection ecosystem to Southeast Europe and providing customers with seamless connectivity across its broader European and Mediterranean footprint. Digital Realty (NYSE: DLR) operates a global data center footprint of more than 300 facilities across 55+ metros in 30+ countries on six continents.
DGKV’s team was led by Managing Partner Zdravka Ugrinova and Counsel Ralitsa Gougleva, supported by Senior Associates Peter Angov, Iliyan Kostov and Georgi Sulev.
